Author Tamara Girardi shares her experiences as both an athlete and as an author, writing books for teens about empowered female athletes.
Tamara faced extreme adversity as a child being raised in a single-parent household and an impoverished community. She was orphaned by the time she was fifteen, but despite all of those challenges, playing sports helped to establish a supportive community and confidence to pursue her passions. In 2022, Tamara published four young adult novels in the Iron Valley Sports series that feature empowered female protagonists who navigate life’s challenges while playing the sports they love.
In her festival talk, Tamara will tell her personal story of how sports shaped her youth and established resilience that would serve her well in her fifteen-year journey to publication.
